There are days I stop mid-session, look around the gym floor, and feel genuinely lucky. Not because the workout is going well, but because of when and where I get to live it.
I moved to Sydney knowing I was chasing sunshine and a slower pace of life. What I didn’t expect was how much this city would shape the way I see health. Here, people run along the coastline before sunrise, swim in the ocean on their lunch break, and treat movement as something joyful rather than a chore. It’s contagious. Living somewhere this active has changed how I think about ageing, not as something to fear, but something to prepare for with intention.
And honestly, we are living through a remarkable moment. For the first time, we have real, accessible knowledge about how to age well. We understand strength training preserves muscle and bone density long after the years when it used to feel optional. We understand hormones, recovery, nutrition, and mindset in ways previous generations simply didn’t have access to. Wellness isn’t a trend anymore. It’s a conversation happening everywhere, from group chats to dinner tables to gym floors like mine.
That means something powerful. It means a woman in her forties, fifties, or sixties today has more tools than ever to feel strong, capable, and confident in her body. Glowing skin, steady energy, a body that moves without pain, these aren’t only reserved for our twenties anymore. With the right habits, they can be part of our story for decades longer than we were once told was possible.
I think about my own clients often. The ones who walk in unsure of their strength, and months later are lifting weights they never imagined possible, standing taller, laughing more, feeling more like themselves. That transformation isn’t about chasing youth. It’s about building a body and a mindset that can carry you fully through every stage of life, with confidence rather than fear.
Being in this generation, in this city, surrounded by people who genuinely care about wellbeing, feels like a privilege I don’t take lightly. And I want every woman I work with to feel that same privilege, that same sense of possibility. Because taking care of yourself isn’t vanity. It’s one of the most generous things you can do, for the version of you that’s still ahead.
So if you’re wondering whether now is the right time to start, I promise you, it is. There has never been a better moment to invest in the body and life you get to keep living in.
